St. Louis is doing it right, with this traditional Midwest treat. A sweet yellow cake batter crust and a smooth cream cheese layer top make for a palate pleasing combination of textures, to say the least.
Dust a generous layer of confectioner’s sugar on top for presentation and serve this up for a perfect after dinner treat. Typically made in a 9×13 pan and cut into bars, this recipe makes a perfect cake style version. Other variations include adding chocolate chips on top for a chocolaty addition.
A friend of mine once served this cake with cooled vanilla dressing and it was heaven on Earth. That combination and a hot cup of strong coffee would be a lifesaver in the middle of a rough day!
